Life’s Absolutely Grand & Washington, DC

In DC last night, me and my absolutely amazing friend, Janna M. Hall (click to check her out), hosted a happy hour at El Centro D.F. On 14th street to celebrate everything we smile about. We did this with our friends who had things to smile about also. How freaking amazing was that?!  Not to mention Janna is on her way to backpack through Europe (imagine my jealousy, but she will write some things for Passport Required).

We laughed, ordered drinks, more drinks and more drinks and nachos, and toasted to Janna’s upcoming birthday. We celebrated new loves,  old friends, travel, and freedom. And although there are faces I we didn’t see but wished we did, our highs stayed high.      I woke up this morning with the intention of brushing my teeth, hopping on the Chinatown bus for NYC and making the most of my favorite big city. I called and switched my flight to leave out of DC tomorrow, and now, I will hopefully remember why I used to love this place so much.

As a traveler, one of my main points is to not plan too thoroughly. Sometimes you need to go with the wind, not knowing what beautiful things may happen or what beautiful people you may meet. And this is one of those times.    Lunch, brunch, rooftops, and amazing views of history.

Thank you DC, thank you Janna, thank you friends, thank you, thank you, thank you.
