Dear People Who Always Say They’re Going, But Back Out At The Last Minute:
Stop doing that. Stop lying to yourself and your friends and leaving them disappointed and pissed. When the price was given, you knew your inability to save money and your unnecessary life expenses (i.e. Shoes, Weed, Brunch, Name Brand Creme Cookies, etc.) wouldn’t allow the trip to happen for you. Were you trying to fool yourself into fulfilling that New Years Resolution you’ve been making each year? “This is the year I travel more,” you said. Going two towns over and spending $250 on cocktails, shots, Olive Garden, and Red Lobster counts. Be happy with that.
Dear People Who Don’t Go On Trips Because Your Friends Backed Out:
Stop blaming them. Nothing stopped you from going alone. Well, except fear, but you need to get over that. Yeah yeah yeah, “you shouldn’t tell people to get over things,” you say. Fuck that. Fuck fear. Get over it and go into the world and make friends who won’t disappoint you. Traveling solo is one of the greatest gifts you can give your soul. Well, that’s if you don’t get robbed in Belgium on the train, or get your toe blown off in Central Park. Go! Now! Stop saying, “let’s go somewhere,” and learn to say, “I’m going and if you want to come, come on, but with or without you, I’m going.” Build your travel circle out of those solo folks you meet out there.
