I’m on my way back to the U.S. today, stopping in Florida before hitchhiking (well, Craigslist Ridesharing) my way to Charlottesville, Virginia. I was home in Los Angeles last week for roughly 17 hours after that 24.5 hour trek from South Africa, and before the three flights it took to get here to Bogotá, Colombia.
This morning after my shower, while packing up my bags, I realized I had no deodorant to put on. Actually, I haven’t had deodorant in weeks, and I’m not sorry about that. The good news is that at no point did I smell like the Jersey PATH Train headed for Journal Square at 5pm in the summer. Hell, no one knew. Don’t worry, I will be getting a bar when I get back to the states. The air and weather is different there.
What I’m Looking Forward To When I Return To The States:
1. Seeing what android users texted me, and what they had to say.
2. Macaroni and Cheese made below the Mason-Dixon Line.
3. Entering Central Park at the W 72nd St. entrance and singing whatever John Lennon Song the mourners are playing that day.
4. Fish sticks with ketchup that isn’t sweet.
5. A deep ass breath. This Bogotá height is too much!
Yeah, that completes my list.
So yes, I haven’t had deodorant in weeks, but I have had a blast. Hanging with Janelle and meeting amazing artists and travelers who are changing the world somehow, someway. I’ve broadened my tongue’s horizon, learned about new forms of revolution, and managed to not get arrested, killed, or abandoned at a border. I’d say I did a damn good job.
Alright, America. Let’s get this over with.
